HEALTH – If you urgently need a doctor or a dentist, please contact the reception of your hotel, during the day you can also contact the spa doctor at the hotel spas. The public hospital “Angelo Rizzoli” is located in Lacco Ameno (081 5079111 / 5079231) and Guardia Medica (Emergency Medical Service 081 983292/5070317) to Ischia. For urgent cases please call the number 118. A dialysis station is located in Ischia Porto. Pharmacies can be found in every municipality.
TELEPHONE – Ask at the reception of your hotel which number you have to dial and to get a seat directly from the room. If you call someone abroad, you must omit the zero before the area code, then select the subscriber number. For local calls in Italy you must always dial a prefix number (for example, for Ischia, Procida, Capri and Naples it is 081). If you have a problem with your mobile phone connection, contact the offices of the various operators in virtually every location.
WATER – tap water can be used for brushing and boiled harmless. However, we recommend you to drink mineral water, which you get in the hotel and everywhere else.
ELECTRICITY – The mains voltage is 220 V with 50 Hz. At the reception you usually get an adapter for the connection on loan.
POST – The main post office in Ischia Porto is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays from 8:00 to 13:00. Post offices can be found in all communities. Stamps are also available in tobacco and souvenir shops, in some newspaper kiosks along with the postcards, as well as at the reception of some hotels.
BANKS – Banks can be found in every local center of the island. They are usually open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 16:45. You can change money at the hotel reception or at the bank. ATMs are available not only in the banks but also in various central places of the island, whereby the system immediately recognizes that it is about a foreign card and will offer you the choice of language. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere, so ask ahead to avoid an unpleasant surprise.
BUSINESS OPENING TIMES – Most shops are open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:30 to 20:30. In the summer during the high season, they also open on Sundays, as well as later in the afternoon, and stay open much longer. The mornings are usually closed for business. The hairdressers are closed on Mondays. During low season, grocery stores are open on Thursdays afternoons.
